The patio you pay for is the base underneath it.
You will get four quotes and three of them will be cheaper. What you cannot see from the driveway is that the cheaper crews are laying pavers on four inches of sand, and that is why those patios are settling by year three.
Dale Kettering started Ironwood in 2014 after eleven years running crews in Orlando. His son Wyatt runs the second crew. Hardscape is the only work they take.

The same three men who dig your patio are the ones who lay the last paver. Nothing gets handed off to a subcontractor halfway through.
We excavate eight inches and compact in lifts. The cheaper quotes in this county lay pavers on four inches of sand, and that is why those patios sink by year three.
The number on the proposal is the number on the final invoice. The price only changes if you ask for something different.
We are not a mowing company that also lays pavers. This is the only work we take, and we are doing it every week of the year.
If the pavers settle or a wall moves inside five years we come back and fix it at our cost. It is in the contract, not a handshake.

How a job goes
From the first phone call to the final walkthrough
Site visit and fixed price
Dale comes out himself, measures and takes photos. You get a scaled drawing and a fixed written price, usually inside three business days.
Permit and schedule
We pull the permit and order the material. You get a start date and a finish date in writing. Most patios start four to six weeks out.
Build and walkthrough
The crew works consecutive days until it is finished. We walk it with you at the end and your list is fixed before we ask for the balance.

The things people ask before they call
What does a paver patio actually cost?
Most of ours land between $9,000 and $22,000 depending on square footage, the paver you pick and how much demolition there is. A 400 square foot patio in a standard paver is around $11,000. We do not take jobs under $4,000.
How long does it take?
A patio is three to five working days on site. An outdoor kitchen is eight to fourteen. Add four to six weeks in front of that for the permit and for the material to come in.
Do I need a permit?
Almost always yes, and we pull it. Brevard requires one for driveways, for walls over three feet, and for anything with gas or water run to it. We do the drawings and meet the inspector.
How bad is the mess?
It is a construction site during the day. There is a dump trailer in the driveway and there is dust. We blow the drive and the street off every evening, and everything is off your grass before we leave for the night.
What is covered if something goes wrong?
Five years on our installation, in writing, and lifetime on the pavers through the manufacturer. If it settles you call us and we come back. We have never charged anybody for a warranty callback.
When do I pay you?
A third at contract to hold the date and order material, a third the morning the crew starts, and the balance after the walkthrough. Card, check or ACH, and we finance through Hearth if you would rather spread it.

Dale Kettering started Ironwood Outdoor Living in 2014, after eleven years running crews for a large landscape company in Orlando. He had installed too many patios he knew were underbuilt, because a salesman had shaved the base out of the number to win the job. He started Ironwood to build the base properly and charge what that costs.
His son Wyatt came on in 2019 and runs the second crew. Nothing is subcontracted and no more than two jobs run at a time. Dale does every estimate himself and is on each job at least once a day. Brenda answers the phone Monday to Friday and handles the scheduling.
